APOLOGIZE MR PRESIDENT

APOLOGIZE MR PRESIDENT

For the record. I believe that Prof. Gates is crying wolf and should apologize to Officer Crowley. I have listened to both sides of this story and have come to the conclusion: that the officer was responding to a call of a break in and following police procedures. Prof Gates on the other hand was quite upset that he had to be questioned by Officer Crowely and instead of cooperating with the officer, he became belligerent and insulting. His action resulted in his "black ass getting arrested".  Prof Gates was wrong, and should apologize to the officer. Our president should also apologize to the officer, for accusing the Cambridge MA police of "acting stupidly".

LISTEN

LISTEN

So much drama.. All day everyday….On the tv set, in an email, in the newspaper.. Let us all take a break from stress, drama..... Lets take a deep breath and remind ourselves of how much we should be thankful for just the little that we can claim. And even if it takes you everyday to remind yourself what you should be thankful for in life, just do it... You will feel better. Second, take a moment in your day, and I mean everyday, to give your own self a break.. No one is perfect.. PERIOD.. Lastly, find time to do some active listening... Listen to people....Listen to them...,..that is all.. Listen.. to someone... other than yourself....Avoid being a complicated.. Stop being a glutton for attention and learn to give someone else the floor to speak.. Sometimes, if you just do these simple things.. It makes for a much better day..WORD

Porgies, Whitings, Grits OH MY

Porgies, Whitings, Grits OH MY

Sunday morning breakfast is a sacred ritual in my house.. A true must.. My usual Sunday breakfast menu consists of scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, biscuits etc... But sometimes I like to cook something different...

FRIED FISH AND GRITS...

RECIPE BELOW..FOR SERVING OF 4

Porgies and Whiting can be found at your local fish market. Make sure that when you purchase your fish, you tell the guy cleaning your fish that you want the Porgies, split and head off.  I recommend the same for the Whiting fish, just make sure that the bone is removed.
The bones are left in Porgies, so you must be careful eating this fish. I like to eat this fish with bread. If one of the tiny bones get caught in your throat you can eat a slice of bread to push the bone down your throat.. Now that is an old school trick..

In a skillet, heat cooking oil for frying the fish...

Thoroughly wash your fish and pat dry..
Season with OLD BAY Season....
Lightly flour each piece of fish..

Once the oil is nice and hot.. Place the fish skin side up into the skillet..

Cook on each side aprox. 4 to 5 minutes ...

Once fully cooked.. Place cooked fish onto a wooden cutting board..

The wooden cutting board tends to keep freshly fried food nice and crispy.. It also helps absorbs the oil...Sprinkle a small amount of Kosher Salt for taste

Aside slice an onion and fry the onion slices to use as a garnish in the end...

In a sauce pan boil 3 cups of water in butter and sprinkle of salt, once the water is at a boil, stir in the grits, cover the pan, turn the fire off and let stand for aprox. 3 minutes...

Pour grits in to a bowl, sprinkle with sharp cheddar cheese, place the fish on top along with the fried onion slice... I like to dress the fish with mustard.. and enjoy...

WHO WROTE THE SIMULUS BILL

WHO WROTE THE SIMULUS BILL

http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog/2009/02/20/who-wrote-the-stimulus-bill/

who wrote the stimulus bill?

(Editor’s Note: Please see editor’s note below the fold.)

Seriously, who wrote the stimulus bill?

Was it Obama? Pelosi? Members of Congress? Harry Reid? Lobbyists?

Who wrote the stimulus bill that was signed Tuesday?

Answer that question, and then click here:

(Editor’s Note: Late last night, Larry Johnson opined on the cartoon brouhaha in “More Sanctimonious Leftist Bullshit.” Little did we know that American Girl In Italy had also done her own RIFF on it. This is great! Read it too!)

This cartoon appeared in the New York Post. Al Sharpton is up in arms calling it racist. What say you?

cartoon-stimulus

Mr. Sharpton, who has been a subject in cartoons in The Post, said in a statement on his Web site:

The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best, given the racist attacks throughout history that have made African-Americans synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual inference to this form of racism when, in the cartoon, the police say after shooting a chimpanzee, “now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.”

Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder whether the Post cartoonist was inferring that a monkey wrote it?

Yes, he is inferring a monkey wrote the bill. But, Obama didn’t write the bill. Pelosi did, with the help of members of Congress, and lobbyists. (He was mocking politicians in DC that wrote the bill, much like people called Bush a monkey for eight years!)

bush-monkey

Al Sharpton is the one saying Obama is the monkey, not the cartoonist. I would never have put two and two together and assumed the monkey was supposed to be Obama. Obama didn’t write the stimulus bill.

Gov. David A. Paterson, the Rev. Al Sharpton and others expressed concern on Wednesday morning over an editorial cartoon in The New York Post that showed a police officer telling his colleague who just shot a chimpanzee, “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.”

Critics said the cartoon, drawn by Sean Delonas, implicitly compared President Obama with the primate and evoked a history of racist imagery of blacks. The chimpanzee was an apparent reference to the 200-pound pet chimpanzee that was shot dead by a police officer in Stamford, Conn., on Monday evening, after it mauled a friend of his owner.”

“What does shooting a chimpanzee have to do with a stimulus bill?” Mr. Sharpton said. “This raises all the racial stereotypes we are trying to get away from this in this country.” He added: “I’m not speaking on behalf of the president or the chimpanzee. I‘m speaking on behalf of the offended African-American community.”

Has Sharpton just been sitting on the edge of his seat, waiting for a reason to be relevant again? Had Obama written the bill, ok. It would totally be offensive! (even more offensive than comparing Bush to a monkey) But Obama didn’t write it.

In a statement, Col Allan, editor in chief of The Post, denied Mr. Sharpton’s assertion that the cartoon was “racially charged.” Mr. Allan said:

The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington’s efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist.

City Councilman Leroy G. Comrie Jr., a Queens Democrat, called for a boycott of the newspaper. “To run such a violent, racist cartoon is an insult to all New Yorkers,” he said in a statement. “This was an unfortunate incident in which a human being was seriously injured- not an opportunity to sling dangerous rhetoric. It is my belief that The New York Post owes an immediate apology to this city for demonstrating such terrible judgment and insensitivity.”

Now, I will agree that the monkey attack was a horrible incident, and perhaps it is much too soon to be making light of the situation. But, I think calling it racist is off the mark. I can’t imagine they would have been that blatantly stupid. The cartoon was calling Congress a bunch of monkeys. Just like people have done for as long as I can remember.

And like I said, Obama didn’t write the bill. Dumb cartoon? Sure. Racist? If Obama had written the bill, yes. But he didn’t.
What do you say?

Update: Since writing this post, on Wednesday morning, Al Sharpton has organized a protest to shut down the Post. I guess hundreds of people were there. I’m sorry, but to me, THEY are the ones comparing Obama to, and calling him an ape. Sharpton is the one who made this all about Obama and racism.

They want to shut down the New York Post, and throw hundreds of people out of work, because they don’t understand who rote the $800 Billion stimulus bill?

I think Obama needs to step forward and say that this was not about him. He needs to tell them that he did not write the bill. The cartoonist was mocking Congress for authoring what some are calling the greatest generational theft in history. And last time I checked, we can still mock our elected officials.

If Obama had written the bill, I would agree, it was horrible. I don’t like the cartoon anyway, because it is violent, and the poor lady is still in intensive care.

But I think Sharpton is totally wrong on this one.

Thank God for Coffee

Posted by De Quency Posted on: 02/28/09

Thank God for Coffee

Coffee is my best friend in the morning. I begin my day with brewing a fresh pot of coffee. I am not picky about any particular brand. I have discovered that the less expensive brands are just as good as the more expensive. I like to smell coffee brewing; it is a smell that motivates me to get my day going. There is this feeling of calmness that runs through me when I smell the aroma of ground coffee beans brewing in the carafe.

And once I have that first cup. I am set for the day.

I AM NOT A CHIMP

I AM NOT A CHIMP

In order to have been offended by the NYPOST  "Chimp" cartoon, I guess you would have to interpret that the CHIMP is a racial representation of an African American person… which we know is not true….. Moving forward I know that I am a child of GOD... and no longer will I have any emotional ties to anything NEGATIVE that states anything other than me being just that...so moving forward it is impossible for me to be insulted by something that isn't true, nor relates to who I am as a human being.. and by not recognizing or allowing myself to be identified or defined by what someone else says or does allows me to have the clear vision and motivation to deal with issues that are real and substances...That CHIMP in that NYPOST cartoon does not represent President Obama or any other black person for that matter.... its all in the way you think of it...
There are real issues in our communities  that need to be dealt with...That cartoon was open ended….and for us to protest and scream racism, is ridiculous, when we have so many issues within our communities where we OPENLY accept as far as racism is concern….. FIRST we should begin to take a look in our own backyards and then begin to do work that is needed.....It is so easy to point fingers at others......When are we going to stop allowing ourselves to be addressed as NIGGERS from our own peers.. When are we going to stop putting money in the pockets of people who claim to be musical artist, or radio stations, or television stations, or magazines that support ANYONE that uses the word NIGGER….If we want to make a difference and also to be taken seriously… RACISM should be not be accepted on any level…

LET GO, BE FREE

LET GO, BE FREE

I have been married for nearly 10 years and overall I have been with my husband for 15 years. May God Bless my soul!  I have to testify that I have recently learn to LET GO and BE Free. All of my life I had thought that you had to be free from something before you can let go of something. So I have lived in a world chained to false insecurities about myself that have infected my marriage and made it an unpleasant place to be.

There have been so many final moments in my marriage with my husband, where I really thought that this is it.. I can't take it anymore. I am done.

I would complain so much to anyone that would listen, about how inconsiderate he was, selfish, insensitive, how hurt I was, how he treated me this way that way...... My thought process was solely based on the ME factor. It was all about ME and how he is suppose to make ME happy in my marriage.

Operating and living off this premise, was a sure fire way to kill my relationship. For so long I lived and operated as if nothing was my fault. No sense of ownership and responsibility of ME. It wasn’t until two years ago, after one of these ultimate this is it arguments, I had a moment, where I had realized that just maybe, just maybe, ME could be the problem.

I sought marriage counseling and was able to discover and see my self for the thirsty attention insecure baby that I was. I had this bad habit of feeling insecure about myself and blaming others for making me feel that way. With that thought process there was no way to correct anything or find a remedy to be happy. I was in a never ending spiral of drama and doom.

Through counseling I learned to re-focus on how to deal with ME.  I learned that I am the one who is responsible for my happiness, not a relationship, not a title, not something material. Only Me.

I must say that my marriage has been a more comfortable place to be, since I have adopted my new attitude. I no longer walk around feeling insecure and making others responsible for it. I have found that it is okay to give my husband his room to be his own person. It was so ignorant of me to view him as just my husband. And whenever I feel that stressful anxiety feeling creeping into my mind. I just remind myself to LET GO and BE FREE. You can't be free unless you let go......

My Family, Therefore I Cook

Posted on: 02/27/09

My Family, Therefore I Cook

In my home I am the official cook on hand. I am in charge of preparing daily meals for my family. I spend countless days trying to prepare meals that will keep my family healthy and happy. My husband Dan is pretty much a meat and potato guy. He is very easy to please, with the exception that I have to force him to eat his vegetables. Dan doesn't like tomatoes. Unbelievable... My constant speech to him is that he is an older man. Very handsome also. And he needs to eat food that will be good for his health. My son Zeke (7 years old) is very difficult to please at the dinner table. He is the only child that I know who doesn't like hamburgers and hotdogs. He doesn't like tomato sauce on his pasta, even though I try to explain to him, it’s the same sauce that goes on his beloved pizza. No dice he won't eat it. This drives me crazy; because I must always remember not to mix all of the pasta with the sauce. If I mix the sauce with the pasta, there is hell to pay. My sweet Cindy is another finicky eater. She has an addiction to cheese and butter. She doesn’t like chicken or French Fries, but loves hot dogs and hamburgers. I on the hand have become a somewhat of a vegetarian. So every night I prepare four different meals to satisfy four different set of taste buds. It’s a feat, very frustrating to try and satisfy everyone, but I try.
